Pianist and violinist Vicky Mack has been singled out for a QEII Arts Award for the second year in a row.

A former Marlborough Girls’ College student who is now studying at the University of Waikato, Vicky is a highly accomplished musician who has managed the rare achievement of passing her Grade 8 examinations with distinction in two instruments.

Marlborough Mayor Alistair Sowman says Vicky has shared her exceptional musical skills with the community, making a great contribution to music in Marlborough throughout her secondary schooling, through the Tempo concerts and performing arts competitions and other public performances.

The Marlborough District Council and the Kaikoura District Council administer this award to support continuing musical training for the region’s most accomplished young musicians. Nominations for the annual award close on 30 October.
