The paper seeks a recommendation from the committee about the timing for the development of catchment load limits for the Ashburton River, which will be incorporated into the sub-regional chapter of the Land and Water Regional Plan (LWRP).

The purpose of the LWRP is to identify the resource management outcomes or goals for managing land and water resources in Canterbury to achieve the purpose of the Resource Management Act (1991).

The committee will finish the meeting with an update of recent consent activity in the zone.

On Monday 23 July, the Ashburton Zone Committee will join the Orari-Opihi-Pareora Zone Committee on a field trip to increase understanding of the Rangitata catchment.

The Ashburton Zone Committee is a joint committee of the Ashburton District Council and Environment Canterbury.
