Skoglund Park is to get a Parkour installation making it the first council in New Zealand to install this type of equipment. The installation is all thanks to the feedback from several hundred of the city’s students.

The Palmerston North City Council surveyed 400 students between the ages of 11 and 15 from Freyberg High School, Ross Intermediate, Roslyn Primary and St Mary's to find out what activities they thought would be fun in a new youth park.

The response favoured swinging, balancing and climbing activities so the Council has included a steel climbing wall, a four bay swing set and the Lappset Parkour Equipment. The park will also include new paving, seating and tables.

The Parkour equipment, imported from Finland, can be used by students of any age or ability and can be as simple or complex to use as required by the individual.
