Massive marquee needed to accommodate Romeo Bragato Conference

The biggest date on the New Zealand wine calendar, the Romeo Bragato Conference, will be held at the Marlborough Convention Centre later this month.

The conference programme also features New Zealand’s only awards for the grape grower: the Romeo Bragato Wine Awards, the Markhams Young Viticulturalist of the Year and the Silver Secateurs awards.

The downturn in the industry kept many Marlborough wine industry figures away from last year’s conference as it was held in Auckland. However hundreds of delegates are due to converge on Blenheim for this year’s event. A conference of this scale is a welcome mid-winter lift for the town’s hospitality and retail sector.

A marquee will be erected in Council’s car park area in front of the Convention Centre to accommodate the conference programme exhibitors and their product displays.

Car parking will not be available around the front area of the Clubs and Convention Centre from Friday 17 August until the conference comes to a close the following weekend.

The Clubs’ patrons are reminded that parking is free of charge in the Alfred Street parking building from Saturday afternoon through to early Monday morning and the lighting and new pedestrian crossing connecting the two locations is now in place.
