Margaret Mahy was one of New Zealand's greatest authors of children's literature and was regarded as one of the best authors of English books for children in the world.
As well as writing many prolific, popular, and award winning books, she wrote scripts for television and was a playwright and storyteller.
To celebrate Margaret’s life and achievements, Taupō Library is inviting the community to don crazy wigs and join us along with two of our very own creators of Children’s Literature, Donovan Bixley and Kathy White in an afternoon of fun, storytelling, poetry, craft and more.
“Margaret was a legend who influenced the love of reading in so many children, not just in New Zealand but internationally and we want to celebrate her for that” says Donovan Bixley, Taupō’s children’s book illustrator and writer.
Margaret Mahy Tribute: Saturday 11 August at 2.30pm, at Taupō Library
