The Omaka River overflowed its riverbanks in last week's continuous rains.

The flooding left a trail of debris in its path, breaking up road seal at Jacksons Road, left, closing Morgan's Road for several days, centre, and submerging bridges, seen here at Thompson's Ford Road, right.

A flood of this scale is considered a once-in-five-year event. While the recorded rainfall levels were not out of the ordinary, the on-going wet weather didn't give the rivers a chance to drain away. It may take some weeks yet before the full extent of repairs is known.
