The Marlborough District Council wishes to advise residents and businesses served by the Awatere Water Supply (Birch Scheme) on both sides of the Awatere River, including Seddon Township and south that the water supply will be shut down on Friday 10 August 2012 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Residents are advised to store water prior to the shutdown for use during the period when water is not available. Should the weather be unsuitable this shutdown will be postponed until 11 August 2012 or 13 August 2012.

This shutdown is to enable an emergency repair to be carried out on the Awatere water supply main.

Water users are requested to conserve water during the shutdown to minimise draining of the water mains, enabling a speedier return to full supply once the work is completed.

Council apologises for any inconvenience that this water shutdown may cause, and advises that the supply may be resumed at any time within these hours without further notice.

For enquiries please phone Erica Hobbs at Marlborough District Council on 03 520 7400.
