Keep Dunedin Beautiful is inviting the public to take some time to remove litter from a favourite area between 15 September and 28 September.

Already this year a participant has asked for 100 bags for the ‘Coastal Clean Up’ from noon on Sunday 16 September. This project is supported by ‘Our Seas Our Future’, the Yellow-Eyed Penguin Trust, New Zealand Sea Lion Trust and Keep Dunedin Beautiful.

Those who are interested in participating in the Keep Dunedin Beautiful Clean Up Week can register by calling Keep Dunedin Beautiful on 477 4000 (Tuesday – Thursday) or emailing keepdunedinbeautiful@dcc.govt.nz. Details required are name and address, the number of bags required, the area to be cleaned up and usual day of kerbside collection.

Registered parties will receive gloves and specially marked bags which can be put out with the regular kerbside rubbish collection from 17 - 28 September.

Rubbish is collected in the bags, while recyclables can be placed in participants’ own yellow wheelie bins and whole glass in blue recycling bins, which will reduce unnecessary waste going to landfill.
