The Invercargill City Council today completed an end of term review of the Chief Executive Officer, Richard King.

Chairman of the CEO’s Review Committee, Cr Norman Elder said the Local Government Act required Council to conduct a review of the Chief Executive’s performance six months before the end of Mr King’s current five year term, which expires in February 2013.

“The results of the review are an employment matter between Council and their only employee, Mr King.

“Council has the option under the Local Government Act to extend Mr King’s contract for up to two years, or to advertise the vacancy for a period of up to five years.”

Council resolved to advertise the vacancy and expected to commence the recruitment process over the next few weeks, Cr Elder said.
