Caring for Palmerston North's heritage

The Natural and Cultural Heritage Incentive Fund is again open for heritage related projects.

If you want help repairing or improving a listed Heritage Building, the Palmerston North City Council could offer financial assistance.

The fund can also assist with owners working to seismically strengthen listed earthquake-prone Heritage Buildings and Street Character Buildings or contributing to investigation and strengthening costs.

People wishing to carry out heritage related research, education or promotion projects are also eligible.

City Council policy planner, Matthew Mackay, is inviting applications however encourages applicants first to consult the eligibility guidelines to find out what will be considered for funding.

"The Heritage Fund has been running for almost 15 years now and contributed to some great restoration, education & research projects in the City," Matthew said.

"A big part of offering the fund is to acknowledge the work of Heritage Building owners and volunteers in looking after the city's heritage. The Heritage Fund can help by providing seed funding to get projects off the ground."

Information and application forms are available on the Council website pncc.govt.nz or by contacting Matthew Mackay. All applications must be made by 4pm 20 September 2012.
