Kiwi tennis junior Emily Fanning has won the doubles title at the US$10,000 Futures tournament at San Luis Potosi in Mexico.

Fanning combined with Estonian Anett Kontaveit to defeat the top seeded American pair of Erin Clark and Elizabeth Ferris 6-0 6-3 in the final.

In singles Fanning reached the second round, but was beaten by former Auckland resident Tanya Samodelok(Russia) in straight sets.

Fanning will play in the US Open juniors next week.

Marina Erakovic will be in the US Open main draw later today (weather permitting) as she takes on French wildcard Kristina Mladenovic.

Erakovic will team up in doubles with Brit Heather Watson. They have played only two tournaments together , but won both of them; Stamford and last week the Texas Open in Dallas.

At the US$50,000 Challenger in Bangkok, New Zealand players are warming up for their Davis Cup tie against India in India next month.

In the main draw are Rubin Statham and Dan King-Turner. Statham plays qualifier, Suk-Young Jeong and King-Turner an Italian called Luca Vanni. In the final round of qualifying Artem Sitak lost to top seed, Indonesia’s Christopher Rungkat 6-4 6-3.

King-Turner and Sitak have teamed together and play a Chinese combination in the first round of the doubles while Statham is partnering Thai Danai Udomchoke. They take on the Israeli pair of Harel Srugo and Dudi Sela.
