Taupō District Council is encouraging community social service groups in Taupō, Kaingaroa and Mangakino/Pouakani wards to apply for funding through the Waiora Community Trust.

There is $50,000 available to groups working in social services and whose work benefits the health and wellbeing of the community. Taupō District Council is providing the funding but it is being administered by the Waiora Community Trust on Council’s behalf.

Past recipients include Women’s Refuge, Food Bank, Neighbourhood Support, the Alzheimer’s Society, Age Concern and Dyslexia Support. The funding can go toward the delivery of existing services or the provision of projects.

There is $50,000 available for this funding round and it will be followed by a second funding round next year. Application forms are available from Waiora Community House, 129 Spa Rd, Taupō, or on this website here.

The Waiora Community Trust is the home to not-for-profit organisations operating in the Taupō District. It was established to provide a centre for social services so the community can visit one or multiple services in one place.

Applications close at 3.00pm on 28 September. Another funding round will follow next year.
