Hospice West Auckland has announced that they will be selling their original Hospice
property in Woodford Avenue, Henderson and are doing so with support from generous
local businesses.

Harcourts Blue Fern Realty, in conjunction with Harcourts head office, are helping
Hospice to sell the property by way of auction and will not be charging any fees nor will
there be any commission payable to any agent.

Harcourts Blue Fern and the Harcourts Head Office have worked with their business
partners to also contribute up to $15,000 of free marketing space for the property
throughout Auckland.

Harcourts Blue Fern Business Owner Phil Freeman and Sales Manager Cynthia Sherwood
who are managing the campaign say that from a buyer point of view the property has
amazing potential and a range of possibilities.

“The house is on a large site (2407m2 approximately) and is right in the middle of
Henderson – prime land!” says Miss Sherwood.

“The house itself has six bedrooms and two living areas with established, landscaped
gardens and much more. With ample parking and many options, developers or
extended families will find this property very attractive.”

“We expect a lot of interest because of its location and the potential it holds. In the end
all proceeds go straight back to Hospice West Auckland to help them continue providing
their amazing services to our communities,” comments Mr Freeman.

The Woodford Avenue land was gifted to Hospice in 1988 by the local Waitakere
Council, led by then Mayor Tim Shadbolt, to enable a base to be established for the
Hospice Home Care service.  The Hospice Board at that time were able to arrange the
donation of a house with Henderson Rotary leading the renovations and many local
contractors and suppliers provided services for free.

Chief Executive of Hospice West Auckland Barbara Williams says they have grown
hugely and are now looking to expand their services to include in-house care facilities
for people who need to be cared for more intensively.

“For 25 years we have been a Hospice dedicated to enabling people to die in their own
homes and we will continue to provide the care they need during that time. The support
we are getting from Harcourts and their business partners ultimately benefits the
families at the end of the day by allowing us to put investment back into the facilities
available,” says Ms Williams.

Hospice West Auckland has 14 nurses who provide round the clock care to around 180
patients at any time,” says Ms Williams, “so we have a huge need to secure funding over
and above what we receive each year from the District Health Board – every bit counts.”
The property will be auctioned onsite on September 30th, 2012 at 12pm, with Harcourts
Blue Fern and Auctioneer Robert Tulp.

This year Hospice West Auckland is celebrating 25 years of service to the West Auckland
communities and Harcourts will be turning 125 years next year.

Harcourts Blue Fern are very active in supporting community groups through grants via
the Harcourts Foundation Harcourts own charitable entity.
