Council is encouraging the community to come along to an open day at the AC Baths to learn about the planned repair of the indoor leisure pool building.

Residents can attend the Open Day later this month, which is an information session and an opportunity for residents to contribute their feedback. Residents will be invited to provide input on a replacement roof on the indoor leisure pool, mobility access and the separate toddler pool.

The information session on the refurbishment will be held on Thursday 27 September at Youthtown, Taupō from 10.00am-2.00pm and 3.00pm-7.00pm.

The Open Day will include displays of the new design. In addition, the Council Strategic Project Manager, Andrew Boden and Architect Glenn Brebner of Boon Goldsmith Bhaskar Brebner Team Architects will be available to answer questions.

Councillors Williams, Crate and Hickling consider it imperative that residents and pool users come along and provide their feedback.

In addition, Council is hosting a closed information session on Wednesday 26 September for pool members and other key stakeholders who regularly use the indoor leisure pool.

The AC Baths are currently undergoing the early stages of a $5.9 million refurbishment. The work is being done to rectify errors made in a previous revamp of the complex in 2002/03. The design and materials used in the original revamp were not fit for purpose. The refurbishment of the indoor 25m pool building began last month and is the first stage of the project. The refurbishment of the whole complex is expected to take 18 months to complete.
