Kiwi craft brewery Moa has again been recognised by global judges after picking up medals at the Japanese International Beer Competition in Tokyo.

The Marlborough-based brewery won a Gold medal in the international-style Pale Ale category and two Bronze medals in the German-style Schwarzbier and Fruit Wheat beer categories.

The three-medal haul brings Moa’s awards tally for the year to 27 from 4 shows. Tuatara, who picked up a gold and a bronze were the only other New Zealand brewery recognised at the Japanese awards.

“It’s another great recognition of all the hard work and hours our team put into making the best beer we can, it’s been quite a year flying the Kiwi flag around the world,” said Moa Founder Josh Scott.

There were 284 beers from 18 countries and 85 separate breweries entered in the Japanese International Beer Competition.
