MARLBOROUGH

Spring is here – time for that spring cleaning and clearing out the clutter. Don’t just toss the junk – consider what can be recycled. If you’re tackling a garden shed or garage, please remember that some material can be harmful to our environment so dispose of it correctly; not down the drain.

Marlborough has a good recycling infrastructure. The Resource Recovery Centre takes more than 3000 tonnes of material each year that would otherwise be clogging our landfill. Help reduce the level of waste that goes to the landfill by considering what you can recycle:

  • E Waste Collection Facility
The E-Waste facility takes unwanted electronic goods including computers and TV sets.
  • Greenfingers Composting
A green waste composting site operates just past the Blenheim Transfer Station on the Wither Road east extension. All uncontaminated green waste accepted but not fibrous materials like flax.
  • Kerbside Recycling Collection
Cardboard, cans, unbroken glass bottles and jars, plastics and newspapers are accepted. No pizza boxes – the grease is a problem.
  • Resource Recovery Centre
The Resource Recovery Centre opposite the transfer station in Wither Road Extension, Blenheim, is open 7 days a week.
  • Re-use Shop
Anything that someone else may use can be dropped off at the Re-use Shop, located at the Resource Recovery Centre, for re-sale.
  • Blenheim Transfer Station
Waste oil, scrap steel and whiteware can be taken to the Blenheim Transfer Station for recycling. Picton, Havelock, Seddon, Wairau Valley and Rai Valley transfer stations will also accept waste oil for recycling.
