Hollard Gardens turns it on for festival

Hollard Gardens in Kaponga will be family-friendly Party Central this weekend, with a two-day fair to mark the start of the Powerco Taranaki Garden Spectacular.

The fair will run from 11am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday (27 and 28 October), featuring food and produce stalls, kids’ activities, garden workshops and more, preceded by a guided walk at 10am both days.

Fair attractions will include:

Danny Dan Dandy the circus clown (Saturday)

  • Teddy Bears’ Picnic (Sunday 11am-1pm) – prizes for best-dressed bear and bear with best gardening costume, lolly scramble, bears’ parade.
  • Free “food forest’ workshop on growing fruit and vegetables (1pm both days).

  • Interactive garden weaving demonstrations on making plant supports or artworks from prunings.
  • A seed swap stall –  bring your favourite seeds from home to share with other gardeners.

  • A wide variety of food and coffee stalls for lunch, plus local seasonal produce and seedlings.
  • Home and gardenware, tools, craft and art stalls.

 

Some stalls may have eft-pos but fair-goers are advised to bring cash.

The events will proceed regardless of the weather.
