The spring winds have started and that makes it all the more important to secure the contents of your recycling crate when you put it at the kerbside.

Place newspapers and glossy advertising leaflets in separate white supermarket bags before you put them in the crate – it’s one way of making sure they won’t blow down the street on a windy morning.

It’s common sense to put heavier items on top of anything that might get caught in the wind – and remember not to overload the crate.
