Reappointments to Transport Sector Boards
Transport Minister Annette King today announced reappointments to the following transport sector boards.
Maritime New Zealand
. Susie Staley has been reappointed for a two-year term as the Chair of Maritime New Zealand, while Adrienne Young Cooper has been reappointed as a Member for a second term of three years. Ms Staley, a Partner in Staley Cardoza Lawyers, first joined the Maritime New Zealand Board as a member in 1999 and has subsequently served as the Chair for five years. Ms Staley is a director of Global Technologies (NZ) Ltd, Tower Ltd and a trustee of The University of Otago Foundation Trust. She was previously a director of Dunedin International Airport Limited.
. Young Cooper is director and principal of Hill Young Cooper Ltd, a consultancy providing resource management and public policy consulting services. Ms Cooper is a director of Solid Energy New Zealand Limited, Auckland City Property Enterprise Board and the Auckland Regional Transport Authority.
Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand
Darryll Park and Susan Hughes QC have both been reappointed as Members of the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand Board for three-year terms.
. Mr Park is the Managing Director and part-owner of corporate travel provider, Signature Travel. Mr Park joined Air New Zealand's commercial graduate scheme in 1973 and spent his last six years with the company as South Island Manager. In 1998, he established Christchurch and Canterbury Marketing Limited, where he was Chief Executive Officer.
. Ms Hughes specialises in criminal and civil law and also has employment and environmental law experience. Prior to becoming a Queen's Counsel in 2006, Ms Hughes was a partner in Govett Quillam, Barristers and Solicitors for 19 years.
Land Transport New Zealand
. Academic and consultant Dr Janet Stephenson has been reappointed as a member of the Land Transport New Zealand Board through to 30 June 2008. The short-term appointment is due to the proposed merger of Land Transport New Zealand and Transit New Zealand to form the New Zealand Transport Agency on 1 July 2008. Dr Stephenson has many years' experience working for local authorities, the New Zealand Historic Places Trust and as a planning consultant. She currently lectures in planning and coordinates an energy research initiative at the University of Otago.
Maritime Appeal Authority
. Garry Evans has been reappointed as the Maritime Appeal Authority for a three-year term.Garry Evans is a specialist in employment law, medico legal matters and administrative law. He has an intimate understanding of maritime law and has long experience in the conduct of formal hearings, inquiries and in the delivery of written opinions, decisions and advice.
