Taupō’s Water Treatment Plant on Lake Terrace will be temporarily closed on Thursday 1 November from 7.00am to 7.00pm to enable work on the lake intake. Residents in Taupō town are asked to please conserve water on that day.

On Thursday Taupō township will rely on water stored in the reservoirs. Water will still be available to homes and businesses as usual. Water pressure will not be affected. However, residents are requested to please conserve water during this period and to refrain from using any irrigation.

The work being carried out is the installation of a junction into the current treatment plant inlet pipe. Excavation work at the site will be completed the previous day. The area at the water’s edge will be closed to the public during the work, with temporary fencing and signage at both ends.
