Kevin McCloud discusses his own UK eco-village project using a hemp-based material which is  self-insulating, soundproof, non-toxic, pest-resistant, fire-resistant, resulting in homes which are constant-humidity, ultra-durable, don't need much in the way of heating or cooling, aren't damp, won't rot, are ecologically sustainable with an extremely low environmental impact, and are carbon negative both before and after construction ... the  building material itself is two times stronger than concrete, one-sixth the weight, and simply molded around wooden framing - for technical details, how-to's and example builds from around the globe, see
