Appointments to Lottery Distribution Committees

Internal Affairs Minister Chris Tremain today announced 39 appointments across 15 Lottery distribution committees. 

Most of the appointments start in February next year, when current terms expire.  Three new members fill vacancies and start in November this year.

“Distribution committees fund a range of great projects and programmes and make a major contribution to communities up and down the country.  The appointees bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and community connections, and will help ensure the committees continue to be well-placed to do their work,” says Mr Tremain.

Lottery Health Research Committee – Kirsty Murrell-McMillan has been appointed as a new Member to fill a vacancy.

Lottery Marae Heritage and Facilities Committee – John Clarke and Marina Sciascia have been reappointed as Members and Edward Ellison has been appointed as a new Member.

Lottery National Community Committee and Lottery Outdoor Safety Committee – the two committees share the same membership.  Duncan Taylor has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, Stephen Smith has been appointed as a new Member and Dr Debbie Ryan has been appointed as a new Member to fill a vacancy.

Lottery Auckland Community Committee – Jeremy Sole has been reappointed as the Presiding Member and Roger Burrill has been reappointed as a Member.

Lottery Bay of Plenty/Gisborne Community Committee – Wendy Tozer has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, Jacky James has been reappointed as a Member and Jolene James has been appointed as a new Member.

Lottery Canterbury/Kaikoura Community Committee – Quentin Hix has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, and Christine Korako and Dugald McLean have been reappointed as Members.

Lottery Hawke’s Bay Community CommitteeDi Petersen has been reappointed as the Presiding Member and Tom Mulligan has been reappointed as a Member.

Lottery Manawatu/Whanganui Community Committee – Bernard Wanden has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, and Dot McKinnon and Neil Riddle have been reappointed as Members.

Lottery Northland Community Committee – Neil Clements has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, Murray Broadbelt has been reappointed as a Member and Gwen Tepania-Palmer has been appointed as a new Member.

Lottery Otago/Southland Community Committee – Nigel Moore has been reappointed as the Presiding Member and Bev Evans has been reappointed as a member.

Lottery Taranaki Community Committee – Janette Brocklehurst and Lynn Bublitz have been reappointed as Members and Turitea Bolstad has been appointed as a new Member to fill a vacancy.

Lottery Waikato Community Committee – Beryl Lusty has been reappointed as the Presiding Member.

Lottery Wellington/Wairarapa Community Committee – Michelle Laurenson and Mele Wendt have been reappointed as Members and Bernard Cleary has been appointed as a new Member.

Lottery West Coast/Nelson-Marlborough Community Committee – Alison McAlpine has been reappointed as the Presiding Member, Jim Mears and Maria Williams have been reappointed as Members and Viveyan Tuhimata-Weke has been appointed as a new Member.

Lottery distribution committees make grants for community purposes, using money allocated by the Lottery Grants Board from the profits of New Zealand lotteries.  There are nine national committees focussed on particular themes or issues and 11 regional committees with a general community focus.
