At Approximately 12:15 this afternoon a Life Flight Trust team was tasked to respond to Endeavour Inlet in the Queen Charlotte Sound to 54 year old Female who had sustained a lower leg injury while out for a day tramp.

The Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter, with a Wellington Free Ambulance Intensive care paramedic onboard located the Woman on a track not far from Ferneaux Lodge.

Due to the nature of the terrain landing the helicopter near the Patient was not an option.

The Paramedic was winched down to the scene and quickly assessed the Patient.

They were then both winched on-board the helicopter and the Patient was flown to Wairau Hospital in Blenheim for treatment.
