Police seek help to identify sexual assault suspect

GREYMOUTH

Greymouth Police are asking for help from the public to identify a man who sexually assaulted a young woman in the town overnight.

The victim and a friend were at Dixon Park about 1am when they were approached by a man and the assault happened.

The man is described as dark skinned or part Maori, between 5ft10 and 6 foot tall, of slim build. He had dark brown hair and some facial hair and was aged between 20 to 30 years.

The man was wearing white gumboots, dark jeans and a hat - possibly a beanie. He may have also been wearing a black and red chequered top.

Greymouth Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen a man fitting that description or knows who the person may be. Anyone with information should contact Constable Brett Currie at Greymouth Police Station, Ph 768 2648.
