Fire at New Plymouth school destorys building overnight

BREAKING NEWS: LATEST 12:49AM: Dribble NZ News has confirmed a huge blaze at New Plymouth's Girls High School has caused the drama block to be well up in smokes

New Plymouth Girls High School in Taranaki is tonight causing fire fighters to fight a blaze following a fuse exploding in the New Plymouth Girls High drama suite.

Over social networking Facebook students of New Plymouth schools have been making recents status's one even heard police talking about the fire on the intercom over a radio.

At around about 11pm Dribble NZ News found the first reports to us of a fire at New Plymouth Girls High School, since these reports we can now confirm there is a fire at New Plymouth Girls High School.

Emergency services are at the scene and rushed to the school in a hurry, "you could tell they were trying to get somewhere fast" a resident said to Dribble NZ while driving down New Plymouth's one way.

Once the fire service arrived at the scene the drama block was already alit up in smokes.

The building was about 40 meters long.

No one was thought to be in the drama room at the time.

Fire saftey officers are still at the scene investigating.

Fire communications shift manager Mike Wanoa said fire fighters from New Plymouth and Waitara arrived at the school on Northgate shortly after 10.30pm on Sunday to find the drama block well alight.

It took them about 30 minutes to contain the blaze and about an hour to extinguish it, he said.

Dribble NZ News can not confirm if the school will be closed tommorow.
