Scarbro Caro Bowl Round Six Report

Blockhouse Bay and Parnell have cemented semi final places in the Scarbro Caro Bowl Men’s competition with one round of pool play remaining.  There is a dogfight for the last two spots between four teams – Remuera, Royal Oak, Cockle Bay and Kohimarama.  Only four points separate these four sides going in to next Fridays final round of the pool play.  At the bottom of the table Herne Bay and Pompallier are fighting to stay in the premier league with only 3 points between them.


The four semi finalists in the Scarbro Caro Bowl Women’s competition have been determined and the teams will be playing for home court advantage this Friday.  Sunnyhills lead by one point from Kohi and Parnell with Royal Oak just 5 points adrift of the leaders.  Glendowie sealed the relegation fate of Campbell Park beating them 5-1 in sixth round play.

The last round of pool play on Friday 23rd November promises to be full of excitement with final places on the line.  Defending champs Remuera, currently sitting 3rd on the table, take on 6th placed Kohimarama in what promises to be an exciting encounter.  Fifth placed Cockle Bay play 4th placed placed Royal Oak and with only four points separating the teams from 3rd to 6th on the table they are all facing must win scenarios if they are to go further in the Scarbro Caro Bowl Men’s competition.  At the relegation end of the table, Herne Bay must beat Pompallier by a 4-2 margin at least to move ahead of their inner city rivals.
In the women’s competition, second equal placed Kohimarama take on 4th placed Royal Oak this coming Friday and Kohi really need to win comfortably if they are to gain home court advantage in the semi finals.  The Kohi side is even on points with Parnell who are up against second to last placed team Glendowie.  Sunnyhills play Remuera and the Paige Hourigan led team will be fighting hard to protect its one point lead in the competition and earn home court advantage for the semis.

Final round robin matches are to be played at club venues this Friday November 23rd starting at 6pm.
