Fatal Crash

At 2.16 pm Monday 26 November 2012 police were alerted to a crash between a car and two motorcycles on the Lindis Pass, SH 8, near Goodger Road approx 20 km north of Tarris.

Emergency services are attending the crash scene.  It has been confirmed that two people have died as a result of the collision and one person with serious injuries is being flown to Dunedin Hospital by helicopter.

The number of people involved in the collision is not known at this time.

The road is closed and is not expected to be reopened before 7 pm.

Serious crash investigators are in attendance and are investigating the cause of the collision.

The police request the public to be patient and respect the road closure.  There is no detour available in this area.

No further comment will be made at this time. A further media release will be made when additional information becomes available.
