The redevelopment of Petone’s McKenzie Pool is one step closer with detailed design now completed and building consent being lodged.

The detailed design phase has resulted in improvements to the overall design layout with the old entrance building now being demolished and a new office constructed at the west end of the ablution block.

“It became apparent during the design phase that the cost of modifying and strengthening the current office block would be around the same cost as building a new one”, says Marcus Sherwood, Leisure Active Manager Hutt City Council. “This led us to relocate the office to allow the children’s and toddler’s areas to be better linked and also provided room for an expanded grassed picnic area”.

These modifications were suggested by the community during consultation but were discounted at the time due to cost.

Registrations of interest will be sought shortly from suitably qualified companies to tender for demolition and construction work.

Please see attached the final plans for the pool.
