Paseo Purchase Opens Golden Door to Relaxing Luxury
The Golden Door Health Retreat – Elysia, in NSW’s Hunter Valley, is billed as Australia’s premier health retreat. For Justine Cohen, the prize of an experience of the Golden Door’s good-life opulence resulted from the simplest of purchasing decisions, when she picked up a pack of Paseo Luxury 3 ply toilet tissue earlier this year at her local Countdown in Grey Lynn, Auckland.
The irony of such a resort’s location in an area known for wine, chocolate and cheese production was not lost on Justine, who asks, “What divine sadist would locate a spa where the aforementioned food and nectar of the gods were viewed as contraband and therefore banished from consumption!?”
Paseo Marketing Manager Denise Calver says the company chose the Golden Door as a prize because of its fit with the Paseo brand, which offers environmentally-friendly premium products that provide ‘luxury without compromise’.
The luxurious getaway began with flights for Justine and a friend to Sydney, where they were met by limousine for the two-and-a-half-hour drive north-west. There the serious pampering began, along with yoga, hiking, fitball, swimming, circuit training and morning Tai Chi, and lectures on everything from understanding your metabolism and managing stress to tarot-card reading. The Golden Door focuses on a variety of services, educational information, activities, therapies and treatments to ensure wellbeing becomes a way of life.
Kim Calvert, New Zealand Country Manager, says the goal was to give a customer a truly lavish experience. “We knew Golden Door could provide a once-in-a-lifetime getaway that the winner and their companion would never forget. It was a very rewarding competition for our team to run.”
Justine later confessed to the Paseo team that she had “gone AWOL” from the health retreat at one point, but made up for her contraband consumption of local wine, cheese and chocolate by the three-and-a-half-hour walk she had to make to enjoy the naughty part of her luxury trip.
