New Zealand takes out Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Travel Award

New Zealand was awarded the 'Favourite Emerging Destination - Overseas' at the Condé Nast Traveller Reader' Travel Awards in a ceremony at The Oberoi, Gurgaon in India on 29 November.
This year's awards mark the second Condé Nast Traveller Readers Travel Awards which are to be held annually.

The Reader Travel Awards are decided by readers votes for their favourite cities, countries, hotels, airlines and spas across 24 categories.

Condé Nast Traveller India is a travel and lifestyle magazine which is read by more than 30,000 people each month in India. It is targeted at the sophisticated and affluent audience in India.

Kevin Bowler, Chief Executive Tourism New Zealand said the award is a huge honour.

"We are so pleased and excited to have received this award and would like to thank Condé Nast Traveller readers for their passion and enthusiasm for New Zealand.

"India is a growing market for New Zealand with holiday arrivals increasing 13.5 percent in the year ending October 2012.

"Our activity in market aims to increase awareness and preference of New Zealand. Receiving this award confirms that New Zealand is recognized as an appealing holiday destination in this key visitor market."

This latest accolade for New Zealand follows closely behind Tourism New Zealand's recent wins for Australasia's Leading Tourist Board in the World Travel Awards and being named the 'Favourite Country - Worldwide' at the Telegraph Travel Awards.

Tourism New Zealand is also currently in the running to be named the World's Leading Tourist Board at the World Travel Awards. And it's new 100% Middle-earth 100% Pure New Zealand campaign is one off just four finalists for the World's Leading Destination Marketing Campaign. The winners will be announced in Delhi, India on 12 December.
