Labour's thoughts with tornado victims

Labour Leader David Shearer is expressing his sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives during this afternoon’s tornado in Auckland.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who were killed. It is deeply shocking to lose loved ones in such a sudden and tragic way.

“Our thoughts are also with those who have been injured. We wish them a speedy recovery.

“We also thank the emergency services who are working hard under difficult circumstances to ensure people’s safety and to provide relief.

“Labour will do everything it can to support the many families who find themselves homeless tonight and in the weeks ahead as they rebuild their properties and lives.

“Our Auckland MPs are already on the ground providing support and assistance to those affected and will continue to do so in the aftermath of this terrible event,” said David Shearer.
