Builderscrack.co.nz today reported a significant increase in the number of jobs posted on the site for roofing and chimney repairs and maintenance.

Since mid November home owners around New Zealand have posted dozens of requests for qualified, local tradespeople to assist them with maintenance on roofs of existing properties or to complete roofs on new buildings.

Keith Roberts from Builderscrack.co.nz says the run on roofing skills is a familiar seasonal trend,

“Over the last five years we have noticed an upturn in the number of jobs for roof repairs from late November onwards.   We can only assume people are getting their homes in order for Christmas Eve landings”.

Roberts says he advises everyone to get their roof checked by a professional  before 24 December to avoid mishaps.

“I’m not an expert, but I would imagine a fully loaded sleigh with one rather portly driver and six or seven reindeer would make a bit of an impact.  It’s probably worth getting your trades person to check the gutters while they are up there”.
