Officers from the Feilding and Palmerston North Police are currently investigating an aggravated robbery that occurred at the Feilding Countdown supermarket yesterday evening (27 December 2012).

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant David Thompson said: “A disguised male has entered the store at 9.45pm and robbed two cashiers of a quantity of cash. It appears that this male has been armed with a hammer.”

After leaving the store it is believed that he ran in the Bailey/Denbigh Street direction.

“No one was hurt during the robbery but staff members were clearly shaken with what had occurred.”

The male is described as light skinned, thin build, approximately 5 10' to 6 ft. He was wearing long pants and a blue hoodie.

“This robbery is now the third that has occurred in the last few days where Countdown supermarkets have been targeted,” said Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Thompson.

Countdown is reviewing security at their stores and is increasing security as a result of these recent robberies.

“Police want to speak with anyone who was in the Countdown store at the time of the robbery and also to anyone that may have seen a male running in the Bailey, Denbigh, and York Street area of Feilding at around 9.45pm to 10.00pm yesterday evening.”

Police encourage anyone who has any information regarding the robbery at Countdown Feilding to contact Detective Shane Brown of the Feilding Police on (06) 323 6363, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
