WELLINGTON CITY

With the warmer months upon us, Council contractors are hard at work resurfacing many of Wellington's roads.

Work will be under way until March, so a road near you could be due for the resurfacing treatment. If this is the case, and depending how close you live to that road, you'll receive a letter, and if the work is on a major route, we'll advertise on radio and in newspapers.

Significant projects happening around the city this summer include:

- Adelaide Road - following the recent upgrade
- parts of Glenmore and Chaytor streets - following earthquake-strengthening work on Karori Tunnel
- Bay Road - as part of the upgrade of Kilbirnie's main street
- Hutt Road - from Rangiora Avenue to Jarden Mile.

Roads to be resurfaced are identified during an annual survey of every footpath and road in the city, and resurfacing work is often the last part of an upgrade project or follows improvements to kerbs and footpaths.

With regular maintenance, road surfaces normally last 10 to 15 years.

For details on the 2013 road maintenance programme, see:

Roads and Traffic - Maintenance Programmes

Note that sometimes work is delayed by urgent or emergency repair jobs.

If you have a query about your street, phone (04) 499 4444.
