Police seek public's help regarding suspicious fire at commercial premises

Palmerston North Police are investigating a suspicious fire at the commercial premises of Hynds Pipe Systems situated at 874 Tremaine Avenue, Palmerston North.

Acting Detective Sergeant Shelley Ross said: "At about 7.45pm on Sunday, 13 January 2013, Palmerston North Fire crews attended the blaze and managed to bring it under control, saving the office area at the front of the premises and a large portion of the factory."

The scene was examined this morning (Monday 14 January) by a Fire Service Investigator and Police. The fire appears to be suspicious.

"Police are seeking help from the public in regards to any suspicious activity around this commercial premise on the evening of Sunday, 13 January 2013.

"We encourage anyone who has any information to contact the Palmerston North Police Station on (06) 351 3600."

The scene has been now handed back over to Hynds Company Management. They hope to be operational by early next week.
