Kids Branch Out This Summer
Are your kids climbing the walls these school holidays? Well send them down to Pukekura Park on Friday and they can get expert advice on how to climb trees!
The Kids Tree Climbing Event is being held on Friday (25 January) from 1pm until 3pm at the Rogan Street Playground.
“If you’ve got a little monkey aged between three and 13 years old then bring them down for an afternoon of fun in the trees,” says District Arborist Conrad Pattison.
“And parents can have a go too!
“All you need to bring is a bike or skateboard helmet and a fun attitude, we’ll supply all the other safety gear.”
Organised by the Council’s Arborist Team, with support from Asplundh, Tricky Tree Specialists and the New Zealand Arboricultural Association, the event aims to get kids interested in the outdoors and trees in a fun way.
“There will also be a tree trail through Pukekura Park with spot prizes up for grabs,” says Mr Pattison.
Children need to be supervised by a parent or adult, and should bring shoes suitable for tree climbing.
If Friday is wet cancellation of the event will be announced on 93.2 More FM or you can ring the Council on 06-759 6060 to check. There is no alternative date for this event.
