TIMARU

At approximately 1.20am on Saturday 26 January 2013, a 21 year old Timaru man and a 20 year old Timaru man were stabbed during a fracas on Church Street, Timaru.

The scene of the assault occurred on the road adjacent to the taxi stands at the lower end of Church Street, near the Old Bank Tavern.

Shortly after, the 21 year old victim made his way to Sophia Street and then collapsed on the road opposite The Sail and Anchor Bar and Cafe.

He then suffered a further assault whilst being tended to by a member of the public.

Ambulance attended and the victim was admitted to hospital with a moderate, non-life threatening injury.

The 20 year old victim left the scene and approximately 3 hours later admitted himself to hospital.

Three arrests thus far have been made in relation to this assault.

A 19 year old Timaru man and a 25 year old Timaru man have both been charged with Assault.

An 18 year old Timaru woman has been charged with Possession of a Knife and Possession of Cannabis.
