New Qualmark accommodation categories

On 1 March, 2013 three new Qualmark quality categories became available for accommodation providers, designed to make it easier for customers to get specific and relevant information on quality.

Following the successful establishment of Motel and Apartment quality classifications in 2012, the categories Bed & Breakfast, Boutique & Lodge and New Zealand Luxury Lodge will begin replacing the Qualmark Guest & Hosted and Exclusive categories from 1 March, 2013.

These new categories have now undergone the necessary assessment trials to ensure the specific details of each category's criteria are effective and measurable.

From this trial process, several changes have been made to the quality standards within both Boutique & Lodge and New Zealand Luxury Lodge. No change was required to the provisional Bed & Breakfast criteria.
