TARANAKI

itravelNZ travel guide and Venture Taranaki are pleased to announce completion of a project together which means that visitors to Taranaki can now find a wealth of travel information through their smartphones, wherever they are, even halfway down the Forgotten World Highway, and beyond internet coverage.

Venture Taranaki has been working with itravelNZ to share the latest and greatest Taranaki information and events, and now this popular app is loaded with plenty of reasons to visit and stay longer in the region.

Travellers can download itravelNZ free from the Apple Appstore and Google Play onto their smartphone, essentially allowing them to travel the country with their own personal tourguide in their back pocket.  The travel app is proving exceedingly popular with travellers, with over 20,000 downloads, and they recently received recognition from Vodafone as one of summer’s hottest apps to download.

“We have seen a massive uptake of the itravelNZ app over the peak summer season,” says Yuri Volna, the managing director and founder of itravelNZ. “This is both domestic and international travellers wanting to get out and see New Zealand at its absolute best. We’re thankful to Venture Taranaki for their help providing tourists with excellent information and images from Taranaki.”

“It’s important that we get Taranaki in front of this growing audience to make sure we don’t miss out and to make it easy for them to find out about all the fantastic things on offer here.” Paul Stancliffe-White, General Manager Visitor Industry, Venture Taranaki

With the challenges as a result of the global economic crisis, tourism and hospitality businesses need to be smarter in promoting themselves and according to Volna the new technology provides a great solution.

"I am hesitant to use the word cheap when describing new technology, especially when I've invested a lot into the functionality of the app, but for business owners, new technology gives you so much in comparison to traditional marketing options. Being instant, direct and so easy to manage, money is not wasted on expensive printed material which becomes out of date or simply thrown in the rubbish. You're really in charge of your business image and pricing, and capable of reaching thousands of travellers whether they're already on the move, or planning their next trip"

“itravelNZ is that rare win-win environment, travellers can enjoy getting great travel information, wherever they are, through their ever-present smartphones,  while tourism businesses benefit from instant, up to date and cost-effective marketing.”

The app is free to download from the Appstore or Google Play, for more information visit www.itravelnz.com
