Hamilton city will be all “red, yellow and black” as finals fever grips the city for Saturday’s Investec Super Rugby final at Waikato Stadium.

The Hamilton-based Chiefs will host the final against the Brumbies this weekend and the Hamilton City Council has begun to show their support for the home team.

The lights on Victoria Bridge and the Garden Place fountains will flash in Chiefs colours, Chiefs flags will adorn the city’s main street Victoria and the main entrances will feature Chiefs-themed billboards welcoming visitors.

Plans are also underway by Hamilton Central Business Association for a family-friendly event to be organised before the big match.

Mayor Julie Hardaker welcomes Hamilton hosting the Super Rugby final and helps build on the city and region’s reputation of achieving sporting excellence.

“We are very proud of the Chiefs Super Rugby franchise and our opportunity to host another Super Rugby final has got the city buzzing again,” says Mayor Hardaker.

“Our city really gets in behind large sporting events and hosting a ‘New Zealand vs Australia’ Super Rugby final really adds another level of excitement”.

“On Friday, it would be great for all our businesses, schools and workplaces to all show their support by displaying and wearing  the team colours of red, yellow and black” added Mayor Hardaker.

“Go the Chiefs! Hamilton city and the Waikato region are right behind you” added Mayor Hardaker.
