The organising committee have had there first meeting for 2013 and planning is well
underway for The 2013 UIM World Jet Boat Marathon which will be held on some of New
Zealand’s most prestigious rivers in October. The date has been set and the programme
has been finalised.

The only changes from the 2012 NZ Marathon see the marathon start out of Oamaru
with the addition of the mighty Waitaki River into the programme and the last 2 days of
racing have had a role reversal with the final leg being held on the Clutha River with the
marathon now finishing in Cromwell.

This event is guaranteed to be one of the most exciting held in New Zealand in recent
times. The chosen rivers in their own right will be an exciting challenge for the racers
with a mix of wide open racing and very technical shallow rivers.

The rapidly increasing popularity of the FX and CX classes combined with plenty of big
horsepower and turbine boats looks set to make this a truly memorable event in the
Holy Grail of jet boat river racing.
