The Scarbro Caro Bowl showcases some of New Zealand’s leading current and former players representing Auckland clubs in fiercely competitive tennis matches played from October through to the finals in early December.

The defending men’s champions are Head Parnell who will be striving to add yet another title to its already impressive haul of fourteen victories since 1991.  Last year South Auckland Motors Royal Oak won the women’s Scarbro Caro Bowl for the first time and the team looks very strong on paper this year.

Players to watch this year on the men’s side are NZ Davis Cup team members Artem Sitak, Marcus Daniell, Rubin Statham and Dan King Turner.  Former Davis Cup stalwart and current captain Alistair Hunt returns for another year of club play and is always a hard man to beat.  Top junior Cameron Norrie spearheads the Honda Cockle Bay side and his results will be watched with a great deal of interest.

The major attraction on the women’s side is the listing of former Kiwi number one player Sacha Jones who may turn out for Zealandia Sunnyhills.  Sacha is on the professional circuit and for the last two years has played under the Australian banner.  However, she will be welcomed home for any club matches with open arms if she decides to turn out for her old neighbourhood club.  Former Fed Cup players Pavlina Nola and Tracey O’Connor will be hard to beat and a number of juniors look set to challenge the older brigade.

All matches are scheduled to start this Friday October 4th at 6pm and pool play runs through to the end of November before the semis and finals decide the overall winners in December.
