Quake City has welcomed its 50,000th visitor this week. The visitor was warmly greeted by Quake City’s Visitor Hosts and given a special gift to commemorate the occasion.

Coordinated by Canterbury Museum, Quake City opened in Re:START on 15 February this year and since then has become a key attraction for locals and visitors to Christchurch and the wider Canterbury region.

TripAdvisor.com has rated Quake City fifth on its list of 128 must-see attractions in Christchurch and the 92 visitor reviews so far are testament to this status. For example, visitors wrote:

“The best $10 I spent in Christchurch. It was very informative and yet sombre. A great display to help understand both the science behind the great earthquake, but also to understand the effect it has personally on people, the community, and the great city of Christchurch.” - Okahune

“Don't miss this exhibition to understand more about the devastating earthquakes. Very tastefully done, very informative, give yourself a couple of hours. Don't miss the documentary film. You will feel heartbroken, angry, hopeful and joyful.” - Dublin

Proudly sponsored by EQC, Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust, The Press, Fletcher Construction Ltd, Placemakers Riccarton, Opus International Consultants Ltd and Warren and Mahoney, Quake City is a living example of Cantabrian resilience and strong community spirit.

• Quake City is located at 99 Cashel St in Re:START Mall and is open every day except Christmas day. Adults $10. For more information see www.quakecity.co.nz
