CRC Speedshow launches new show for classic cars and motorcycles
The 2014 edition of CRC Speedshow, New Zealand’s biggest automotive and motorsport event, is set to feature a brand-new classic car and motorcycle show to celebrate New Zealanders passion for classic and heritage vehicles.
Following the successful of last year’s inaugural Castrol EDGE / Teng Tools Custom and Classic Show, CRC Speedshow director Ross Prevette decided to give both the custom and classic categories their own dedicated show at the 19 to 20 July running of CRC Speedshow at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
Prevette says: “This year’s new classic show will feature a hand-picked selection of classic cars and motorcycles in a dedicated hall to create a fantastic celebration of the diverse array of marques and models which have been faithfully restored and maintained by classic vehicle enthusiasts around New Zealand.”
Classic and performance vehicle insurance specialist Classic Cover Insurance has already confirmed its backing of the new classic show, creating the “Classic Cover Insurance Classic Show”.
Prevette is looking for Japanese, British and American cars and motorcycles of an extremely high calibre, close to the well-known ‘Concours d’Elegance’ standard.
“We saw some stunning classic vehicles at last year’s Castrol EDGE / Teng Tools Custom and Classic Show which highlighted just how many amazing classic cars and motorcycles there are around New Zealand and how much enthusiasm there is from the New Zealand public for this sector,” Prevette says.
“It’s particularly encouraging to have Larry Barnett and the team from Classic Cover Insurance so keen to join us as the naming rights’ sponsor for our new classic vehicle show, a fact which illustrates the passion for fine vehicles so evident in this sector. I’m really excited to see this show when it’s all set up and ready for CRC Speedshow fans to see it – it’s going to be brilliant.
“We’ll enlist a panel of expert judges and present an array of prizes and trophies for the top-placed vehicles in each category. Owners interested in showing their classic vehicle are invited to contact our show co-ordinator Kate Gordon-Smith via the Classic Cover Insurance Classic Show page on the CRC Speedshow website [www.speedshow.co.nz].”
Larry Barnett, leader – business development and sales for Classic Cover Insurance, says their team is proud to announce their involvement in the new classic automobile show
“There is very little on offer in the way of classic car shows especially at this time of the year, so we wanted to bring something to the CRC Speedshow that adds to the whole experience with some of New Zealand’s top classic cars and bikes,” says Barnett. “I enjoy the Speedshow enormously each year, mainly due to its diversity, and if we can add yet another dimension with the style and class of some majestic classics, then it can only be a positive thing for participants and visitors alike.”
The CRC Speedshow runs at the ASB Showgrounds, Auckland over the weekend of 19 and 20 July 2014 with four display halls, hundreds of vehicles on display, opportunities to meet racing stars and to enjoy top-class entertainment in the Ideal Wheels live action arena.
