Tomorrow over 350 students will be graduating from their programmes of study at Whitireia, at a ceremony being held at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua City.

The ceremony starting at 1pm will see students from the faculty of Health, Business and Arts take the stage and be awarded their qualifications.

The graduands will be graduating in full academic dress; they will parade down to the arena starting at the Porirua campus on Wineera Drive at around 12.20pm, arriving at 12.40pm.  Whitireia Executive and Academic staff will lead the procession.

Over 2,000 students, invited guests and staff will take part in the celebration.  Guests will be addressed by Don Campbell, Whitireia Chief Executive, Suzanne Snively ONZM, Whitireia Council member (2002 – 2013) and 2013 Wellingtonian of the Year while Anasamoa Heather-Pahulu, Bachelor of Nursing Pacific student will speak on behalf of the graduands.  Hon Roger Sowry ONZM, Combined Council Chair will confer the awards.

Whitireia music and performing arts students will entertain guests throughout the ceremony.

Graduation ceremonies are a highlight of our academic calendar said Don Campbell.  “They are an opportunity for our students to celebrate their success while marking the beginning of new pathways for each and every one of them”.

Students graduating will be from the fields of business, information technology, nursing, paramedics, social work, education, arts and communications.  It will be the first time that a cohort from the Postgraduate Certificate in Information Technology and Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology receive their qualifications.
