Picking up on key trends from around the world has always been a focus for Domino’s Pizza and the urban street food trend is one that Stefaan Codron, Domino’s Global Development Chef, has been following with great enthusiasm. Stefaan has been working away in the Luv Lab, the onsite kitchen within Domino’s Head Office, perfecting his flavours and combinations.
After thorough testing and combinations from various global urban food trends Domino’s have launched their new Pulled Pork Range, available from August 4th. The flavour combinations on offer include Hickory BBQ along with Sweet Chilli and Lime, drawing inspiration from America and South East Asia.
Pulled Pork is a method of cooking pork where you cook the meat at slow temperatures, allowing the meat to become tender enough that it can be “pulled” or easily broken into individual pieces. It is an extremely tender and flavour-filled meat that lends itself to pairing with a varied array of flavour combinations and treatments.
Stefaan Codron says “We are excited to add these global flavours to our menu. It is a reflection of the passion we have of bringing new and exciting combinations to our products. We hope to introduce our customers to some new flavours and new combinations, and perhaps inspire them to taste other flavours around the world also. Maybe they can help us with the next big thing.”
“We can’t wait to hear feedback about the product as this has been a labour of love for us – getting inspiration from various cuisines an adapting them to be suitable for a pizza. We are confirming our suspicions that there isn’t much that doesn’t taste great on a pizza!” says Codron.
New Zealand General Manager, Scott Bush also adds. “We encourage our customers to provide us feedback on this new Pulled Pork range as we designed the Hickory and Sweet Chilli and Lime flavours with our customer in mind. They have asked for excitement and variety so we are excited to see how this will be embraced. If it proves popular, and the feedback we receive is good –which we are expecting it to be – then we would look at continuing on with this global sourcing trend.”
