The success of a Tongan housewife becoming an international Company superstar is inspirational. So much so that a West Auckland author is giving her tribute at his book launch “56 Notions of Success.”
Ofa Tupouniua migrated to Auckland with her husband Tevita. They wanted to build a better life for their children. Tevita found work with Fisher & Paykel eventually becoming a foreman. Ofa and Tevita were content with their new life.
That is until opportunity literally knocked at their door.
Tevita’s position enabled his family to receive insurance through his union. The preferred provider of many New Zealand trade unions is AIL of New Zealand. AIL distributes life and accident covers underwritten by Torchmark Corporation (TMK).
Tevita says about Ofa, “She tries to reach out to the people to make a difference.”
And that she did.
Ofa saw an opportunity to help her people living in New Zealand. She became a distributor for the insurance company. She smashed its worldwide record in 2010. Tevita resigned from his job and literally taxied his wife throughout the country.
Her heroic display of passion led to a management position. And recently she has been named the company’s number one Master General Agent (Senior Manager) for 2014.
Ofa’s motivation that put her above 6,000 colleagues in USA, Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand was her children.
“They won’t have to suffer what I went through. I know that I can now support them to go to school and have a better life. They can now have a different life from my life as a child.”
Timothy Rose, author of “56 Notions of Success,” will read from the chapter Ofa inspired: “You Don’t Accidently Create Success.” Ofa and her team will be in attendance at the book launch.
