Kiwi travellers can now earn Fly Buys points on global hotel bookings in a new partnership between the loyalty programme and Hotels.com.

Hotels.com offers accommodation booking for approximately 435,000 properties around the world and is Fly Buys’ first partnership with an overseas travel company, offering members the chance to earn points when they stay at accommodation booked through Hotels.com.

Fly Buys CEO Stephen England-Hall says the addition is a coup for the company, which continues to expand its travel offering and move into the ecommerce space.

“People are increasingly turning to the web to purchase goods and services and the travel industry is no different.

“More than 2.28 million New Zealanders ventured abroad in 2014, up 4% on the previous year*. With so many people on the go, this partnership is a huge opportunity for Kiwi travellers to get something in return. This partnership also enables Fly Buys to capitalize on the huge opportunity of mobile bookings, with more than one in four Hotels.com transactions booked through a mobile device globally.”

Hotels.com vice president Asia-Pacific, Abhiram Chowdhry, says: “Fly Buys has over 2.4 million members in New Zealand and many already use Hotels.com, so being able to reward them made complete sense. The Fly Buys community combined with the breadth of the Hotels.com inventory domestically and overseas will attract Kiwi travellers to this rich program. Uniquely, Fly Buys customers can also earn free nights with Hotels.com’s reward programme, a win-win for all travellers.”

Hotels.com will officially join Fly Buys from 19 March, 2015. The partnership is launching with a double point earning offer until 19 April 2015.
