Retailing became a family tradition preceded by years of commercial travelling by my father,  the late Stanley Pemberton,  “Much of those early years were built on service, home appliance repairs, hire purchase and cash sales which were all born out of the post war years,” says Len.

 

The appliance market evolved and Stan Pemberton seized upon the idea of creating a rental television business. A strategic decision was made to rent premises in Pakuranga.

 

This is when Dominion Television Services came into reality. This was the first television rental company in New Zealand. 

 

“Bronnie and I attended the 50th Anniversary of DTR's inception in Auckland. I represented the Pemberton family for that occasion back in 2012,” adds Len
