According to the findings, flowers, indeed, are a natural and healthy mood regulator, with participants showing “excited” and “true” smiles in response to receiving the flowers. This “true” smile is also known as the Duchene smile, which is consistently related to positive human emotion and a good indicator of happiness. The study found this response was universal among all age groups.

Additionally, the participants reported feeling less agitation, anxiety and depression after receiving flowers, and showed a higher level of enjoyment and life satisfaction.
